Millworks

Film Photography & Prints

Millworks Film Photography & Prints is Bryce’s creative corner for everything he has shot on film. The site was built as a central portfolio to display his favorite images, host a small online shop, share stories from past travels, and inform others with film tips for anyone interested in analog photography.

Web Design

Bryce knew he did not want just another plain, white photography portfolio website. He wanted something unique, full of personality, and connected to the hand-drawn logo he designed.

The website’s custom layout comes to life on the homepage where rhyming text guides visitors while highlighting favorite photos in the first view. An off-white background and welcoming fonts keep the tone approachable, and yellow and brown accents add earthy warmth. The portfolio is optimized for photography with proper image resolution and fast load times, and a live Instagram feed showcases the latest shots as they arrive.

Highlights

  • Custom portfolio layout beyond a plain template
  • Playful rhyming text that guides viewers on the homepage
  • Website optimized for photography with fast load times
  • Live Instagram feed highlighting Bryce’s latest film shots

Logo Design

The logo typography was designed to feel friendly and welcoming. The color palette keeps things earthy and memorable, with a yellow that pops, brown to complement it, and a dark gray for contrast. The camera icon in the primary logo was inspired by Bryce’s first 35mm film camera, a Nikon FM, and the hand-drawn style helps the brand feel personal and approachable.

An alternate horizontal version was created so the text can be used on its own, and the hand-drawn film canister works perfectly as a favicon or secondary mark while featuring the brand’s Instagram handle.

Highlights

  • Friendly and welcoming typography with earthy three color palette
  • Hand-drawn camera icon inspired by Bryce’s Nikon FM
  • Alternate horizontal text logo for independent use
  • Film canister favicon featuring the Instagram handle

Graphic Design

Building on the handmade spirit of the website, a set of custom, hand-drawn icons was created to match the overall feel of the brand Bryce designed. Each portfolio category has its own illustration to help visitors browse with ease, and a playful hand-drawn film strip serves as an accent across the site, reinforcing that the images are FILM.

Two display plaques were designed for the eatery where Bryce displays his film prints and stickers for sale, carrying through the website’s colors and typography. The result connects the online shop with the in-person café space and keeps the look unmistakably Millworks.

Highlights

  • Custom hand drawn icons for every portfolio category
  • Palette carried consistently across the website
  • Hand drawn film strip accent to reinforce analog photography
  • Print and sticker plaques connected to Bryce’s local eatery display
